Russian Post confirms partial leak of user data at subcontractor
MOSCOW, Aug 1 (PRIME) -- Russian Post has confirmed a partial leak of user data at its subcontractor, the clients’ banking data have not been compromised, a representative of the postal operator told PRIME late on July 29.
“Reports on a massive leak of Russian Post’s users have appeared on the Web. What happened in reality? One of the accounts of our subcontractor was compromised as a result of a hacker attack, a fragment of data really fell into the hands of the perpetrators. This fragment exactly is offered as a trial one…The leak did not contain any banking data, nothing threatens security or reputation of the clients,” the representative said.
Russian Post also said that the hackers do not have access to other records. “The security service blocked access via the compromised account and double-checked the level of safety on all possible points of access,” the representative said.
“The communications service has sent to Russian Post a request to provide the detailed information about the possible leak of personal data of the company’s clients,” the authority said in a statement.
